Today's charter anglers are much more sophisticated than they were just a few years ago. They know that the best boat on the water can't get you on fish; it's really all about the captain. He has to be intimately aware of the local waters; what species are most likely to be encountered on a given day, in a given set of weather condtitions. He also has to know those secret places to go on days when the weather is too rough to fish the regular hangouts. In short, he has to be up on the latest tackle and techniques, and he has to be an expert on the local conditions.
Captain Dave has fished Kodiak his whole life, starting as a young boy. Instead of playing baseball, he commercially fished salmon with his father, and ran his first commercial fishing boat at 18. With generations of fishing experience he has watched the fleet grow from wooden boats to todays technology. Captain Dave has been featured on the Travel Channel “Alaska Wide Open Spaces” and also the European Channel “Guys on Tour”.
Dave has fished crab in the Bering Sea on the fishing vessel “Saga”, now part of the Deadliest Catch Fleet. Captain Dave takes pride in catching multi-species Halibut, Salmon, Yellow-eye, Lingcod and Rock fish all in the same day. On average a 1,000 pounds of fish per charter, so jump on board and make your own memories today.
Kodiak Island is quickly becoming one of Alaska's premier destinations for all five species of Pacific salmon, rockfish, lingcod, halibut and much more. The verdant, rugged coastline provides a scenic backdrop to some of Alaska's best saltwater adventure fishing. The island's numerous sheltered bays offer protection from weather systems that move through, giving you more fishing days than other places that might be blown out.
