The Lower Skilak Lake Campground is popular with boaters intending to fish the middle section of the Kenai River from Skilak Lake to Bing's Landing.
NOTES: It's a 1.3-mile run from the boat ramp to the outflow of Skilak Lake into the Kenai River; most boaters use an outboard, though it can be rowed or paddled. The campground offers drinking water through several hand-pump wells, however in most Alaska campgrounds, it is recommended that water be filtered, boiled or otherwise treated before drinking.
This campground is administered by the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.
The Lower Skilak Lake campground does not offer fishing directly from shore, however if you have a boat, fishing opportunities in the middle section of the Kenai River are excellent.
