NOTES: Centennial Campground is owned and operated by the city of Soldotna, which bills it as one of the most convenient campgrounds on the Kenai River. No campground on the Kenai River is more deserving of the title; it sits just on the edge of Soldotna, down along the river as you cross the bridge over the Kenai. This means that if you need to make a quick run for groceries, ice, fishing tackle or anything else, it's all about five minutes from Centennial. And yet the campground is quiet and peaceful, offering excellent shore fishing opportunities. The campground has 176 designated campsites, with picnic tables, fire pits and other amenities like potable well water and restrooms. You can purchase firewood and ice at the park booth, and there are even pay phones and newspapers. There's a boat ramp with plenty of trailer parking nearby, along with a fish cleaning station right on the river.

Fishing

Centennial offers excellent shore-based fishing in the Kenai River, which is particularly good during either of the two sockeye salmon runs, along with the silver run in the latter half of the summer.
